Program Overview

This virtual symposium is based from a live satellite symposium held on April 5, 2008 at Hospital Medicine 2008 - SHM's Annual Meeting, and will provide a straightforward approach to ADHF patient management via "goal-directed" strategies that seek to relieve patient dyspnea and fluid overload (when necessary) and preserve and/or improve heart function as well as mitigate comorbidities-ultimately improving patient outcomes. Two experts in HF and cardiology will present case studies to illustrate the optimal treatment strategies in treating the ADHF patient. Emphasis will be placed on the critical tenet "Time is Function" in ADHF management, reinforcing the need for early, aggressive intervention to improve patient outcomes.
